It's spring cleaning time and possibly, you may be wanting to clear out some household items. To donate: Proceeds to benefit people St.Paul's Anglican Church runs a thrift shop on Saturdays 10-noon. St.Paul's is located opposite the Greek Embassy on Byron Avenue near the town center. Drop off your items during that time. St.Joseph's Convent also runs a charity shop, open on Saturdays 10-noon. They are located near Paphos Gate. Pregnancy Care Centre on Ledra Street will take baby items (0-5 years). Tel: 22 668 043 KISA, which provides support services, free of charge, to migrants, refugees etc , programmes for children and other activities, also takes donations. http://www.kisa.org.cy or http://cyprusgreenparty.blogspot.com/2010/07/kisa-collects-used-clothes-shoes-and.html. Anakyklos Perivallontiki, an NGO, offers some donated clothes free of charge to persons and families who cannot afford to buy clothes, at Anakyklos One, the charity shop of Anakyklos in old Nicosia. Put donations in the purple collection banks around town. http://www.anakyklos.org Periodically: You could probably donate for the next Cans for Kids sale day although I'm not sure when they would start collecting for that. Cans for Kids raises money to buy medical equipment for the children's wards at Cypriot hospitals. http://www.cansforkids.org/ St.Paul's holds a spring and winter sale Proceeds to benefit animals The Nicosia Dog Shelter Charity Shop. Open from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm daily (although it is probably best to call them before you head down there if it is during the workweek) as well as on the weekend. The charity shop is located at 43 Granikou Street within the walls, on the same street as the Motorcycle Museum. Tel: 22 660 413 To sell yourself: Perhaps you can procure a stall at the Arts and Crafts Market held on Saturdays downtown and on Sundays at Strovolos Municipality. There is a vetting process but seems like second-hand things are acceptable. http://www.arts-craftsmarket.com/HOME1.html Along the same lines, there is a Gynaikobazaro held (generally) on the first Saturday of each month at the end of Ledra street, close to the Ledra Street crossing. They are located at 16B Pringipos Karolou St, a block east from Asty Hotel. Hours are 9:30-1pm M-F, Sat 4-7pm, Sun 3-6pm. |
