Where can I take some Greek classes?

Foreigners moving to Cyprus may wish to take Greek classes for a variety of reasons.

The most cost effective is probably the Greek language for foreigners class offered by the Ministry of Education from November - May, meeting once a week in the evenings, at various locations (usually primary schools) in town. The booklet of classes is available online from http://www.moec.gov.cy/epimorfotika/programma.html . Unfortunately the entire website is in Greek with no English translation (yes, not very helpful at all!). When you download the booklet of the programme however you will find this text in the pdf:
"The Adult Education Centres of the Ministry of Education and Culture organize one of the most important programs of general adult and continuing education in Cyprus. [..] They offer a variety of subjects such as the teaching of Greek language for foreigners, dancing, painting, arts and crafts etc, satisfying both the education and vocational needs and interests of adults. Tuition fees: Urban areas 51 Euro."
Call 22-800800, 22-800803 or 22-800797 during September to find out more information. A paper edition of the booklet is available from various public offices such as the General Hospital and the Water Board.

The University of Cyprus also offers a Greek course via the School of Modern Greek (I think). Sadly, no information can be found on the university website but a lingering document provides this email: smgreek@ucy.ac.cy and phone number: 22-434790. Good reports have come from people who have taken this course.

Koumoullis Institute on Kennedy Ave also offers a Greek course. I took the 16 week intensive Greek course. It allowed me to get a clearer picture of my Greek level - not that I use it much! No real info online so here is their phone number: 22-421970.
